We have many opportunities for you to help us serve the needs of our Lydia’s Place Friends. We know it is extremely important to find the area that matches your passion and your expertise. We also know that time management is a big part of the decision to volunteer or not to volunteer. Our opportunities vary from a small amount of time to larger amounts of time. It all depends on what level you would like to serve with us.
No matter what level you serve with Lydia’s Place, we want you to feel that you have made a difference in the lives of young people and your time, skills and resources were used efficiently and respectfully.
Emily Tisdale
Emily Tisdale brings joy and creativity to every celebration at Lydia’s Place.
As a valued member of the celebrations committee, she helps decorate for the holidays, ensures that students feel special on their birthdays, and volunteers at events throughout the year. Inspired by Lydia’s Place’s mission to walk alongside young adults as they transition from foster care or homelessness to independence, Emily finds deep meaning in creating moments of connection and celebration.
“I am grateful for Lydia’s Place because I think we meet everyone we are supposed to at just the right time,” she shares. “Lydia’s Place fills a void in my life and allows me to be around people who strive to be more selfless. The students give more to me than I could ever give to them.”
For Emily, volunteering is more than a service—it’s a reminder of the power of community and compassion. Through each birthday card, festive display, and special event, she helps make sure every student feels seen, valued, and celebrated.

We have a variety of committees that meet throughout the year, including:
Provide meals for students during our twice-monthly student meetings, where students receive independent skills training, hear speakers, participate in community building, and more.
Meal providers do not have to stay and serve during the meetings. Just drop off your donation, and we will take it from there.
