Program Coordinator

Lydia’s Place Inc is a Christian nonprofit in the Athens, GA area serving young adults 17-24 that have experienced foster care or homelessness. We serve students who are enrolled in post secondary education in the Athens area. To fulfill our mission, Lydia’s Place offers specific services and supplemental support to our students, including food, tuition, clothing, transportation, housing, counseling, and medical care.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective

The program coordinator identifies and provides direction, coordination, and assistance for all volunteer and collaborative functions within Lydia's Place, Inc.  The coordinator will strengthen program/development efforts and results with volunteer/collaborative services. Involve a community of supporters as described in the duties outlined below.


Essential Functions

Volunteer Coordination and Supervision

  1. Develop and maintain volunteer recruitment, orientation, training, and recognition. 
  2. Maintain accurate records of tracking volunteer hours, volunteer job description and criminal background checks.
  3. Develop and maintain strong, positive relationships with collaborative partners.
  4. Work with marketing coordinator on an appropriate collateral and social media strategy for recruitment of volunteers.
  5. Conduct Lydia's Place tours as needed. 
  6. Provide Director monthly reports on all individual and group volunteers.
  7. Assist with special events and program volunteer needs.
  8. Serve as the primary contact for all requests to volunteer ensuring a timely response.
  9. Foster and maintain collegial relationship with peers in the field with area volunteer organizations. 

    In-Kind Donation Management
  1. Identify and maintain inventory of needed in-kind items and communicate needs to appropriate staff.
  2. Maintain and refine in-kind donation standards and receiving procedures and the tracking of in-kind donation standards.
  3. Work with the Development Committee to ensure proper recognition of in-kind gifts through thank you cards, and various media.

    Administrative Duties
  1. Answers the telephone and provides exceptional customer service to internal and external customers.
  2. Greet and assist visitors to Lydia’s Place
  3. Provide general support to visitors by answering questions and requests to internal and external customers about Lydia’s Place
  4. Organize and schedule appointments, tours and meetings for potential volunteers or donors
  5. Develop and maintain a filing system
  6. Receive, sort & distribute the mail
  7. Assist with inventory of office supplies, cleaning supplies other supplies on a monthly basis 
  8. Handle sensitive information in a confidential manner 
  9. Reply to email, telephone or face to face inquires in a timely manner

Required Education and Experience

  1. Associates Degree or higher in Human Services, Management, Social Work, or related field preferred.
  2. At least 2 years of related experience in volunteer management or leading teams.
  3. Strong organizational skills, well disciplined, able to work under pressure of many priorities, previous work, or volunteer experience in the nonprofit sector.
  4. Knowledge of management principles and evaluation techniques related to programs that involve a cadre of volunteers.
  5. Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with staff, peers, management teams, supervisors, governing board, and community partners.
  6. Excellent computer skills required (Microsoft Office suite Databases)
  7. Ability to work respectfully with people of diverse ages, races, ethnicities, nationalities, socio-economic levels, beliefs, and lifestyles.
  8. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills: comfort building relationships with individuals via phone, email and in person.
  9. Collaborative team player who works effectively with colleagues and staff across programs.
  10. Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.
